It's raining again today and I think birds are building a nest in my chimney.
I used the buttonhole feature on my sewing machine last night and got so excited about the button-closure pillow cases I made I woke up D to show him.
I unpacked my sewing patterns and my grandmother's patterns and put them in her sewing cabinet. Her patterns, from the 60's and 70's, are much cooler than mine from the 80's and 90's. Making clothing these days is more expensive than buying it, even without figuring the time equals money factor, since patterns and fabric are so expensive. I think I'm going to make a dress from some clearance fabric I bought and one of the old patterns. It cost her only 65 cents 35 years ago. The inflation calculator says that pattern would cost $3.12 in 2003. So why do patterns now cost $10 and up?
