Plans Canceled

D gives a talk at Stanford University on Thursday night. It's not really as important as that sounds because it's not for the University but for a group that meets there once a month. This will be his second talk for that group, and will be a sort of rehearsal for the talk he'll be giving in DC next month at the national convention he spoke at last year.

I was planning to go to DC again this year but decided against it and I was planning on going to Stanford this week but decided against it, both for the same reasons: money, time, and Gypsy. And I guess I'm still tired of traveling.

We've been trying to figure out if we should/can go to the world congress for our spiritual group who meets internationally every four years in a different country. Four years ago we went to Bali, Indonesia, and four years before that we were both in Spokane, Washington, though we hadn't met yet and probably didn't even see each other there. This July/August it's going to be in Innsbruck, Austria and I really want to go. Of course I was also really excited about going to Portugal before they had a change of plans. Apparently, the organizing committee couldn't find facilities large enough or suitable to host the event in Portugal.

It's registration time now and flights are already filling up. I was thinking we could fly into London, spend a couple days there before taking the train to Germany, spend a couple days, and then take the train to Innsbruck. I wrote a novel in which some of the characters do something similar and how can I even bother to write about something I've never done?

Though the closer summer gets, the more I realize I probably don't have the resources (time, money, or energy) to go. But who knows, maybe we'll make it.
