Unconscious Mutterings

unconscious

  • Shelter:: Gimme Shelter - Sisters of Mercy (“It's just a kiss away!”)
  • Karate Kid:: they kept playing that on Showtime while I was living in the hotel last October. I think about it every time I'm painting or sanding or cleaning.
  • Andrew:: I knew a sort-of-crazy guy named Andrew in a summer Psychology class at the Junior College. We were both 17 and both had mohawks. He wrote his name with a circle around the A and was the first to ever tell me about BOB... knowing about the Church of the Subgenius is one of the things Todd liked about me... I won Todd's record collection off him in a game of dice, a small collection but it included a couple coveted Snakefinger albums... the first time Tristan kissed me is after I lured him in my room to see my collection and he saw my Snakefinger records... Todd also got me into Negativland and the related radioshow, Over the Edge... years later, one of the things D liked about me was that when he first met me I stayed up all night on Thursday nights listening to that radio show. Now that I think about it, it seems my serious relationships can be traced back to Andrew who was gay. Boys are impressed by strange things. Or, maybe I just like strange boys.
  • Rib:: riboflavin
  • Push it:: Push It - Static-X (“corrosive tainted by my sin I'm spilling blood and I can hardly contain it!”)
  • Creep:: Creep - Radiohead (“what the hell am I doing here I don't belong here”)
  • Chainlink:: sometimes when D hits the tennis ball over my head it sticks in a link of the chainlink fence behind me.
  • Squash:: damn. I forgot to turn the rest of that butternut squash into soup yesterday.
  • No mercy:: Sisters of No Mercy? ohmiGOD, they actually exist.
  • Superhero:: Venture Brothers
