Dollar Sign Eyes

With something like a commuter room we could make it work.

D is really into this new job prospect, even more so than the idea of @pp1e, much more so than the company he turned down and the one he contracts for now. And apparently the guy is really into hiring him. D's reputation preceded him, which is a strange thing to discover from one the most influential CTO's. Since it's a start-up the financial potential is much greater. And this time, the starter has enough capital to see it happen.

He asked D what it would take to make me want to move to SF. He was talking in terms of financial incentive. I said I can't sell my soul. But that's what he wants from D, that's why software startups want young unattached people who are willing to work 80 hour weeks. I don't want to sell my soul, but don't want to obstruct D from his fame and fortune, from doing what he's so great at, or from changing the world like he wants. Our relationship is a constant battle to stay out of each other's way without completely bailing on each other.

He has a second interview on Monday including a hotel room for that night. Add another day to his time gone. Tuesday is his all day interview at @pp1e, hotel included. I had to convince him that my responsibility to work those days was more important than me accompanying him to SF and the South Bay for a couple days and to see him off to MI. I have mixed feelings about that.

It's him always wanting me to give up my life to do what he wants. It used to be really easy to do, but it gets harder. It gets really hard when he's only worked a few days this month on anything that actually pays.
